Dr. Jennifer Yang is a Senior Scientist at Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated, San Diego. She received her B.S. degree in Chemistry from Peking University in 1988 and her Ph.D. in Biophyiscal Chemistry from Washington University in St. Louis in 1993. She worked at Cypros Pharmaceuticals from 1994 to 1998, setting up analytical development group. Her responsibilities included analytical/bioanalytical method development and validation, API impurities/degradant characterization and stability testing. She then worked at Merck Research Labs in San Diego, DMPK group, from 1999 to 2004. The focus of her work was biotransformation/reactive metabolite formation/covalent binding as well as bioanalysis/PK support. She joined Vertex in 2005 to head the drug metabolism group. During the past three years, she has set up drug metabolism related assays to support both discovery and preclinical development projects and reported DMPK related studies for IND filing.
